Lingard and Styles landscaping of Offa's Dyke Business Park, Buttington, Welshpool

Hats off to the Assembly Government whose Offa's Dyke Business Park may well be a 'white elephant' but thankfully will be landscaped to a high standard - unlike that awful utilitarian Welshpool Livestock Market down the road where the local hedgerows have been ruined, not a tree planted and the car (lorry) park and roadway reduces any chance of meaningful landscaping. By comparison at Offas Dyke Business Park, proper landscape architects have been employed and a respect to the local landscape achieved. Well done WAG and well done Peter Styles.

  1. Yes indeed! What a shame absolutely no effort has been put into landscaping at the new livestock market. I originally thought what a sound job they had made of the new development but awaited the landscaping - and still I wait! Surely this should have been conditioned? I simply cannot understand how, at the Offas Dyke BP they have made such a solid effort and a matter of few yards down the road it has been missed - quite embarassing really. I'm afraid a couple of, already wilting, trees to the front will simply not suffice and should be adressed sooner rather than later.

  2. Anon - yes absolutely. I wonder whether Powys planners agreed the pitiful landscaping at the entrance and thus lost all opportunity to now require additional landscaping. It is all about expertise. Architects preparing plans are NOT qualified to prepare landscaping schemes and planners working without in-house landscape architects are NOT up to the job of assessing landscaping submissions. I fear it is just too late.
