Offa's Dyke Business Park, Buttington

Locals feeling frustrated by the traffic delays and detours on the Shrewsbury road at Buttington will be pleased that the activity is all to do with economic development as funding has been released by the Welsh Assembly Government to extend the Offa's Dyke Business Enterprise Park. Excellent news for the local economy. But what a shame to see the roadside hedge removed, presumably to facilitate the drainage works. Let's hope that Powys planners will insist on a replacement landscaping scheme, much as it did in the first phase of Offa's Dyke along the Leighton Road. But don't hold out too much hope - the recent new Livestock Market just a stone's throw away is devoid of any planting or screening, with the tractors and trailers elevated above the Trunk Road in full view of the two nearby houses and travellers driving along Shrewsbury Road.

  1. Shame to see that the new footpath running along the side of the new Market has damaged the hedge further. Can anyone find out whether the Council required planting of trees as a condition of planning for the Market? They are usually very strict about landscaping.
